Learning Foreign Languages

If I had a superpower, it would be my ability to pick up a foreign language. My first language was Cantonese Chinese, and as an immigrant to the US at age nine, I had to learn English. Since then I have studied French, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, a little bit of Korean, German and Spanish, and now Hawaiian.

During my time away from Instagram and Facebook during my social media fast, I am finding the language learning app Duolingo to be a great replacement habit. It gamifies language learning and adjusts pretty quickly to the user’s level in each language.

I had a 148-day streak last year. I broke it and left for almost a year. It feels good to be back!
